These are the so-called "outtakes," but really they are not. These are tracks that just didn't fit on the album. But as the track titles suggest, the session was formatted a lot like two live sets. There's a focus on ensemble playing, but just as at a gig there's also a focus on everyone bringing something to the table. Solos, a duo, and taking turns leading. When I go to a performance, I want to hear and experience something of everyone's point of view, catch a little glimpse into what each person is thinking about. I want to hear their own individual part of the conversation in this moment of shared time.

It is about the collective spirit, the sense of musical ones, a partnership of equals that makes this kind of music, music composed in real time in the moment by the imagination and inspiration of thoughtful expressive musicians, so completely amazing. Thanks for digging deeper into our session!
