about

Last summer I was in Seattle for a bit. And like the vibe that Seattle seems to give off, there were musicians playing throughout Sea-Tac. Pretty cool. While I was waiting for my plane I listened to a duo who happened to be playing Daydream Believer. I looked them up later on FB, they call themselves "Champaign Sunday." I'm not sure if they mean the day of the week or the dessert. But either way, they were pretty cool and their version of the old Monkee's song really touched me. Like most of that band's repertoire, they didn't write it. The song is written by John Stewart who was a member of the Kingston Trio for a time. Their performance really hit me, looking back now after all those years the song had a real poignancy.

The other cuts on this album, as on my previous album, Cut It/Out, are songs that have connected with me over years and years. I used to play Alfie on my parents piano in Aurora when I was in high school. It was a new song, then.

Thank you for listening, I hope you enjoy the music!

Recorded without edits on a 1964 Yamaha G3 with a pair of SM81 microphones.
